Rest In Peace, Stuart Collins - Hale Barns Cricket Club

22 May 2020

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of club legend Stuart Collins, who passed away on Thursday morning at Macclesfield Hospital following a short battle with illness.

Having been a member at the club for many years, Stuart made a significant contribution to the club in many ways – as a player, Junior Chairman, Pavilion Committee Chairman and Club President, to name a few.

Stuart was a well-respected and dearly loved member by all at the club, while his commitment to the junior section meant he impacted the lives of hundreds of aspiring cricketers.

His leadership in this area will prove to be his lasting legacy, with the current makeup of the senior sides made up of several homegrown players. Most notably, eight of the 11 players involved in the 2018 Cheshire Shield winning line-up were previously coached by Stuart at junior level.

He was made a Life Member in 2012 for his unwavering devotion to the club and remained a loyal supporter on matchdays, as well as attending many social events.

For many, Stuart was the man that welcomed them to Hale Barns Cricket Club, and his wisdom will forever be remembered.

Stuart wishes to have his ashes scattered at the ground and the club will ensure a proper send off to celebrate his life once the Covid-19 emergency recedes.
