Hale Barns Second XI are competing in the Cheshire County Cricket League Division 2 for the first time in 11 years having topped the Cheshire Cricket League Division A table in 2018.
The team won 15 of their 22 fixtures to win the league at a canter, finishing 52 points ahead of nearest competitors Port Sunlight.
2017 HBCC Player of the Year Clive Collins was yet again the star performer with the bat, amassing 488 runs at a remarkable average of 54.22, including an unbeaten 100 against Lymm Oughtrington Park. Barns also had significant contributions from James Fullerton-Batten (337 runs at 56.17), Nick Lathbury (335 runs at 47.86) and Tom Entwistle (328 runs at 36.44).
With the ball, Tom Saddington topped the charts by a distance with 35 wickets, including a five-wicket haul during a victory against Mobberley. The vice captain also scored 151 runs at an average of 21.57 and took nine catches, which led to him being awarded 2nd XI Player of the Year for 2018.
Elsewhere, youngsters Dan Martin (20) and Jake Romer (16) enjoyed success at various stages of the season, while Chris Colley and Dave Saddington both reached double figures with 10 wickets each.
