Hale Barns Second XI are competing in the Cheshire Cricket League Division A for the 10th year in succession this year.
The team appeared to be making a strong push for promotion in 2017, but were ultimately hampered by 10 draws and settled for a solid fifth place.
Clive Collins was the star performer in the league, producing 550 runs and five half centuries at an average of just under 40, while Nick Lathbury (378) and Tom Entwistle (336) were also reliable contributors with the bat.
The majority of wickets were shared between bowling trio Adam Payne, Tom Saddington and Younas Saeed, who recorded 88 wickets between them. Payne won the battle for leading wicket taker with 31, one ahead of Saddington (30), while Saeed (27) fell four short.
The highlight of the season was a terrific cup run as they reached the final of the UK Fast CCL T20 tournament. Lathbury was in imperious form throughout the competition, maintaining an average of over 60 from six innings. Barns beat Trafford Metrovics, Urmston, Knutsford, Mobberley and Poynton in their route to the final before a narrow defeat in the final against Neston, despite Saeed scoring 31 not out and figures of 2-15 from Jack Wylie.
